AdvertisementFormula One racing has developed a new and fresh face with the entry of hoards of talented young racing drivers. Amongst the new age speed kings in the sport is the German born Sebastian Vettel who is only twenty years of age. At present he is the sidekick to Sebastien Bourdais in the Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula One team. Prior to his instatement with the team he was the third test and reserve driver for the BMW Sauber Formula One team from the Turkish Grand Prix in 2006. He is also honored as being the youngest ever driver to take part in the Formula Grand Prix as he took part in Friday practice during the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix. He was then only nineteen years and fifty three days old.
In 2007 he earned another remarkable achievement by becoming the youngest driver ever to take the lead in a Formula One race. Another achievement that does not do much to boost his career is the fact that he has the quickest time to be fined which was just nine seconds into the race. In terms of his entry in the Grand Prix he is the sixth youngest driver to take part in and lead a Grand Prix. Like all other youngsters Sebastian Vettel started his career with karting at which he won a number of competitions making a good name for himself as a young driver. He then moved on to open wheel cars at which he secured 18 victories in 20 races. Later he was to be seen competing in Formula three racing where he won the rookie of the year award.
Vettel was BMW Sauber’s third driver during the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix. After a series of impressive test runs he ended up as a confirmed team member of BMW’s test driver squad in 2007. He competed in the world series by Renault Championship where he secured his first ever win. It was in the year 2007 when Vettel made his debut in the United States Grand Prix as a driver for BMW Sauber. In mid 2007 he replaced Scott Speed and joined the Red Bull’s Scuderia Toro Rosso team as race driver of the Hungarian Grand Prix. During this time the young man has earned a fortune in the sport.
