Jenson Button
AdvertisementAmongst the relatively younger generation of Formula One superstars is the twenty eight year old Jenson Button. The English racer currently races as part of the Honda F1 team. The year 2006 saw Jenson Button winning his first ever Grand Prix in Hungary. Prior to his Grand Prix victory he had raced 113 races. We have all heard about the young speed guns of Formula One and how they started karting at a young age but no one comes close to Jenson Button’s karting career. Due to the eagerness of his father Jenson got his first karting experience at the age of eight. He got a head start on his racing career and won all 34 races of the British Cadet Kart Championship in the year 1991. Subsequent years saw him reaping further success as a young kart driver which eventually paved the way for him to come into car racing.
He made his way through to Formula One by starting off with the British Formula Ford Championship where he continued to secure good positions. He won a number of tournaments and awards that got him the much deserved respect at a young age. The year before the millennium saw him make a move towards Formula Three racing which proved out to be quite a rewarding tenure for Button. He finished his first year with three wins and the to rookie award making it clear that his next step would be Formula One.
Button started his Formula One career with the Williams team and got himself noticed as a speed king in the year. He came out as a promising individual but was obviously overshadowed by his more experienced teammate; Ralf Schumacher. Next year he drove for Benetton which was a gloomy period for his career. In 2002 however Button moved on o Renault. The year was marked with contractual disputes which overshadowed his performance. The next two years Button raced with the BAR team and it was during this time he had a bad crash which hampered his career. Currently he is considered to be the prized possessions of Honda F-1 who have bought the BAR team out completely.
